How to budget your finances

Setting a budget is a key ingredient for the modern gentleman. It does not matter how much money you make, but how you spend it. You absolutely have to spend less than you earn every month, which turns out to be harder than most guys think. Discipline in controlling your purchases, like not splurging every time for the latest gadget, will make your money go much farther and start to build wealth. Instead, set up direct deposit on your paycheck and have ten percent automatically go to your savings account. Then, don’t touch your savings account and do not set up an ATM or debit card on your savings account (makes it harder to spend it.) Then make a list of all your monthly expenses (rent, food, gas, bills) and subtract that from your monthly income. Whatever is left (income minus expenses and savings), put in a safe investment like a high interest CD. Do this for 12 months in a row.
